Savage as You is out but we are very far from done here. SaY is Book One of an Eight-Book series that will have loads of supplemental material along the way. Case in point: Vitrified.
So, bit of a fun fact, back in 2009 I wrote a Dark Fairytale called Vitrified, first story I ever made, about a girl named Helena Craven trapped in a nightmare realm trying to escape. It had The Gentleman, The Librarian, The Butcher and many staple characters found in SaY, including Isaiah, Danielle, and Hailey. I shelved this book after many rewrites. In 2019 it rematerialized alongside my transition as Savage as You. I decided to make Helena a character in SaY as a nod to that book’s roots, as well as keeping Amelia intact as an aspect of Helena’s story. Now, I’ve decided to write an homage novella to Vitrified entitled … Vitrified! It tells the story of Helena, before SaY, and it includes many sequences from the 2009 story as well as a few surprises that hint at future stories, as well as tying back into SaY in a big way! I’m extremely excited about this story, as I feel it solidifies the identity of the mythos I seek to build. Vitrified will be out on October 20th. Additional fun fact, about 80% of Hailey’s dialogue with the snail/Ferryman in SaY in the lavender field is literally copy pasted from Helena’s exchange in the OG 2009 Vitrified, if you ever wondered why that scene might feel a bit different tonally.
Vit’s cover was made by me using an AI-free, licensed stock photo. I got lucky and found an image that checks so many boxes for the story’s themes. A fractured identity, the jawline Hailey describes 100% in SaY, the dissatisfied look with her appearance, as if she sees something (dysmorphic) we don’t, and the glass is a crescent, subtly referencing Lapis. 10/10 image pull, no notes.
